Founder, Caerfaisn

Building protected governed-AI infrastructure for defense and intelligence environments.

Jonathan Holifield founded Caerfaisn to solve a specific operational gap: frontier models deliver strong reasoning capability, but high-stakes defense and intelligence environments require external workflow control, clause-level auditability, traceable reasoning, and accountable human authority.

He built the Mech after observing these governance shortfalls during open-source work on the June 2025 12-Day War. Raw model output produced drift, unverifiable claims, and weak review trails. The solution was an external governance layer that imposes deterministic structure and human-piloted oversight without modifying the underlying model.

His professional background is in complex project management within the AEC sector, where he handled budgets, schedules, subcontractor coordination, documentation chains, and operational recovery on multi-stakeholder projects. This experience directly supports the current phase of converting the functioning Mech prototype into protected, deployable black-box infrastructure suitable for controlled government and defense evaluation.

Caerfaisn’s current focus is government and defense pathways. The Mech is being productized as model-agnostic, human-piloted, audit-ready infrastructure that can operate in client-controlled environments. The company is not building another analysis product or prompt layer. It is building the external control system required to make frontier AI usable where trust, traceability, and human authority are mandatory.
